Fused Glass Pendants

The Fused Glass Process The fusing process used to create one of these glass pendants is a lengthy one.  First, we create a base layer of glass and our first design layer.  Each piece may contain up to 3-6 layers of glass individually fused to complete a design.   Each Pendant is cut, grinded, etched, and layered by hand, sometimes in several layers.  Our glass art requires a seperate firing in a fire brick kiln for each design layer applied.  Once properly annealed (slowly cooling to prevent cracking) up to 12 hours after each firing, the pendant is handgrinded, cut with a diamond saw and grinded again. The pieces is refired (fire polished) to smooth out the glass and give it a shiny finish.  The entire process can take up to 5 days to complete just one pieces of art. This is tedious work and children are allowed to work the layering of precut pieces.
