How To Create Stamped Halloween Candles

WHAT ARE THEY?
Small or large candles alike can be custom decorated with images you stamp and emboss on tissue paper. Images are cut out and heat applied to candles.  The wax melts and absorbs the tissue until all that is left is your beautiful image...

And the possiblities are endless!

It is very simple to make your own candles from tissue paper. This is an ideal way to 
make your own customized candles. Use gift wrap tissue paper and colored ink to contrast the candle color. You can decorate inexpensive candles from the dollar store to make your own creations using your favorite rubber stamps for any occasions you can think of. The stamped image forms a silhouette against the candle background when embossed. 

Materials Required 
Halloween rubber stamps
Candle 
Rubber Stamp Ink
Embossing powders 
Tissue paper in the same color as the candle 
Craft heat gun 
Glue stick 
Scissors or craft knife

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Step #1-Stamp your image on tissue paper and apply embossing powder.  Blow dry the image gently until it has a raised ridge.  Black shows up best, but use whatever you have.  Witches, jack-o-lanterns, and other images all work great.

Step #2- Carefully cut the images from the tissue paper. A square cut is fine as the access tissue paper will bond to the surface of the candle and the edges will blend into the candle.

Step #3 - Dap a little glue with a glue stick to the stamped image. Place your image on the on the candle and secure in place.  Use the heat gun to heat the surface of the candle by moving in closer and closer to the candle until the wax melts the surface of the candle and it looks shiny - remove the heat at this point. The tissue paper should bond to the surface of the candle and be almost invisible. If parts of the tissue remain visible, reheat the wax carefully until the remaining parts have bonded. Use the back of a spoon to smooth any drips in the candle wax.

Step #4 - Use a rubber stamp with a bold outline or color an image with marker or pencils will give a stained glass effect.

  Never leave luminaries unattended. Be careful with children near candles.
